Great playstructure for small yards May 23, 2010 We decided on this structure mainly because my almost-5 year old wanted something with monkey bars. This is half the size of a comparable wooden structure. While I do think a fort would have been nice (common accessory for wooden sets), my kids perch on the top so they still get a "special/lookout" place. It was easy to put together and very sturdy--this looks like it'll last forever and still look good (unlike wood), and it looks nice in the yard. Digging the holes and adding the concrete was the only difficult part. I think my husband used something like 1.5 bags for each hole and digging and leveling in our impacted clay soil was a bear--a post hole digger would have been v. helpful.
The only downside I can see is that I haven't found any good accessories for my 2 y/o so he really can't enjoy it. We tried removing the trapeze bar and adding a glider from Lowe's, but taking away the trapeze bar affected everyone else since there are only 4 activities to do. I had thought we could switch out the rope (which no one really uses) but that leaves only one hole to attach something else, not usable for swings or gliders. That's something to be aware of--you can't switch out and add accessories as easily as you might think. What you get is pretty much what you get. The only Kettler add-on I've seen (other than swings) is the surfboard glider, which looks awesome for older kids, but it must have been recalled (no doubt for safety) since I can't find it for sale anywhere.
All in all I'm very pleased with this purchase. Size, pricing, ease of assembly and quality are all great and I expect my kids to get years of enjoyment out of this set.

~ The Best Set with Monkey Bars, No Spinters, and High Quality Non-heating Metal! Apr 29, 2010 This set was everything my daughter asked for and more. What surprises me the most is how many kids can play on it at once. We dug deeper and installed it lower since our kids were barely 2 and 4 when we bought this. We removed the upper ladder bars so our youngest could not climb to the top and reach the monkey bars without an adult. Once she got older we installed it with the turn of a couple screws. The set was so easy to install. The kids now 7 and 9 still play on it, (although they are mostly climbing on top of the monkey bars now). They have attached cardboard boxes and made the set into a fort complete with windows and doors, attached ropes and anything else you can imagine. It is so easy to clean off too. We never had to worry about splinters or the metal burning their hands. Kettler is top quality. It hasn't faded at all either, and it's in the sun year round in California! Definitely recommend this to anyone interested in a high quality, easy to install and clean, long term play structure. We also bought a separate slide which the kids move around the backyard, it didn't cost too much, and it seems they prefer it that way rather than attached to the set. We installed pea gravel below, which has been safe, no injuries at all. The kids also like to dig with it and play as though it is sand. Enjoy!
Great swingset -- just get organized first Apr 28, 2010 This is a great set once it's in the ground. A 6 year old and 3 year old both love it. It's amazing how quickly they adapt to this thing and start climbing all over every surface of it. It's not a treehouse -- it's like the monkey bar sets we remember from growing up. The assembly isn't bad, but I can't overemphasize the need to organize at the outset. Take the time to sort the screws and bolts into ziploc bags and label them. The 10 minutes it takes to do this will save you hours. All in all, it probably took 4-5 hours to complete assembly. Use quickcrete for posts to set the posts. I used about 60 lbs per post hole. It was easy as could be -- pour the mix in the hole, soak it, and cover. When's the last time you assembled something where every weld was right, and every hole lined up just where it was supposed to? This is one of those. Great product.
Awesome, sturdy, quality set! Apr 22, 2010 We bought this set for our five year old daughter. She is really into the monkey bars and trapeze. Since she takes gymnastics we thought this would help her with arm strength, while providing fun activities.
The set is very sturdy, with quality pieces and hardware. Having read the other reviews, I separated and labeled the hardware which made it much easier to put together. We used 10, 50 pound bags of quickrete for the posts.
I am thrilled with the set.
Great Product! Mar 20, 2010 Best play set ever. We've had a few metal play sets before and this one is by far the best! We've had it for almost two years now and still looks brand new. My daughters love it and so do her friends. I highly recommend this or any other Kettler play sets!
